SOFTWARE DEVELOPER LEVEL 4

The main purpose of the Software Developer is to work as part of a software development team to build simple software components. They will interpret simple design requirements and will use code which other team members have developed to develop the required component.

This is a Level 4 apprenticeship.
 

Duration
 

Typically, 18-24 months.
 

Entry requirements
 

This is for employees already working in software development roles, whether newly recruited or already employed. Newly recruited employees should ideally hold a Level 3 Software Development Technician apprenticeship or equivalent qualification on entry.

Qualifications
 

Learning modules are certified by BCS – The Chartered Institute for IT

Includes industry recognised qualifications - Microsoft, Cisco and CompTIA

In addition to their apprenticeship, apprentices will achieve their Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths

Progression opportunities
 

Upon completion, apprentices can progress onto Senior Developer roles. The apprenticeship also links with the knowledge and skills required for the Digital and Technology Solutions professional apprenticeship standard.
 

Funding and financial support
 

Employers paying the Apprenticeship Levy can use their funds to cover the cost of apprenticeship training while a range of government funding is available for non-levy organisations. Other financial support is available for employers and apprentices depending on circumstances.
