GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL - MANAGEMENT APPRENTICESHIPS
GP Strategies Apprenticeships has developed a Level 3 and 5 Management programme for Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH), built around a core model of scheduled monthly day release from the workplace.
Pre-scheduled, well-planned day release gives learners and their line managers the structure, transparency, quality and continuity of delivery they require. By sharing the dates of these sessions well in advance, cover for the apprentice on day release can be planned in advance, minimising disruption to departments or services. Day release is used for classroom delivery, as well as for time to spend coaching learners with assignments and project work.
Apprentices gain great value from being brought together in this way, allowing vital peer-to-peer learning and best practice sharing. A diverse range of roles within the hospital included Office Managers, Senior Staff Nurses, Administration Managers, Mortuary Manager and Senior Biomedical Scientist. Some sessions are even mixed across qualification levels, to give each level of learner valuable insight across the teams. This backbone of delivery is then supported by activity including; 1-2-1 workplace visits and e-learning.
