What is the maximum age for an apprenticeship?

 

In the UK, there is currently no maximum age limit for an Adult Care Apprenticeship.

 

Is there an age limit to be an apprentice?

 

Apprenticeships are available for anyone in the UK aged 16 or over, with no maximum age limit.  Various incentives and levels of government funding exist to cover the cost of training and assessment. If you are over 18, your employer may need to contribute 5% towards your programme.

 

Can I do an apprenticeship at 50?

Can you be overqualified for an apprenticeship?

 

In 2017, the UK government relaxed the rules regarding previous learning when it came to applying for apprenticeships. This means that whatever your academic or industrial background, you are eligible to apply for an Adult Care Apprenticeship as long as the area you are applying to is different to any prior training you have undertaken.

 

Can I do an apprenticeship if I have a Level 3 qualification?

 

If you have previously gained an A Level or Level 3 qualification, you are eligible to apply for an Adult Care Apprenticeship at level 2, level 3 and level 4 and above.

 

What qualifications do I need for apprenticeships?

 

Entry requirements can vary for each apprenticeship type, but often you may need up to five GCSEs at grade 9 to 4/A* to C including English and maths. If you don’t have GCSEs in English and maths, you’ll usually be asked to take qualifications in those subjects as part of the programme.

 

Can you drop out of an apprenticeship?

 

If you need to, you can leave your Adult Care Apprenticeship at any time. However it is important to remember that if you leave your apprenticeship early, you will not gain a qualification.

 

What happens if you get fired from an apprenticeship?

 

As an adult care apprentice, your apprenticeship agreement ensures you are treated the same as any other employee. It is very unlikely you will be let go from an apprenticeship unless there is an extreme case of misconduct or performance issues. But if you are let go, the government will continue to fund your training for at least 12 weeks, giving you a chance to find alternative employment.
